A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing Jen and Andreas's beautiful wedding at a lush green field in Swansea, Massachusetts. It was an early fall day in New England, and one of the first crisp and cool days of the season after weeks of heat and humidity.
Jen had always dreamed of having an outdoor wedding in a beautiful field surrounded by friends and family. The wedding day did not disappoint!
One of the common challenges associated with a wedding in a field is that there's not an easy way to keep the bride concealed until she walks down the aisle. Their solution? Members of the bridal party and family held umbrellas in formation as they processed in. Two by two, they walked down to the aisle, leaving the umbrellas at the back of the crowd. When the last umbrellas were gone, the audience could finally see the beautiful bride!
I can't tell whether the audience is more excited to see Jen, or vice versa!
After group photos were done, I had about 10 minutes with the couple to get a few portraits in an adjacent field space. It was well worth the time! We got some great portraits there.
One of the most joyful moments of the night came when Andreas's family and friends from Germany announced a surprise performance for the couple. What they performed can best be described as a mix of rhythmic poetry, singing, and dance, and was about all of Andreas's virtues, and how Jen has found an amazing man! It was delightful, and you can see the bride and groom's reaction below!
To Jen and Andreas - congratulations to you both! Thanks for the opportunity to photograph your wedding!
